The University of Canterbury (UC) is preparing to launch an innovative student mobile app as part of its broader Digital Transformation Strategy early 2025. This mobile platform provides a unified digital companion, streamlining access to academic schedules, course materials, support services, and real-time notifications tailored to the needs of UC’s diverse student population.
This presentation will discuss UC's collaborative approach to designing a solution based on extensive user experience (UX) research, co-design sessions, and insights from ongoing pilot tests. By integrating various systems and Enterprise Services, the app offers a seamless experience that reduces student effort and improves engagement. Key features include an integrated calendar, personalized notifications, and access to a chatbot, all designed with inclusivity and accessibility in mind, reflecting UC’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Join us as we explore the app's design journey, technical challenges, and expected outcomes, including enhanced student satisfaction and academic engagement. This session will provide insights for institutions seeking to innovate through mobile technology and deliver cohesive, student-centric digital experiences.
