Dear CAUDIT, CAUL and ACODE Members, Associates, and Industry colleagues,
As everyone is aware, COVID-19 has created great uncertainty in many aspects of our daily lives. Travel restrictions and intermittent lockdowns are likely to persist across the Asia-Pacific region for some time to come. On top of this, the University sector has experienced deep budgetary constraints, with little to no travel scheduled for 2022 in many institutions. Considering these extraordinary personal health risks, and travel and economic constraints, the Organising Committee has decided to cancel the face-to-face THETA 22 Conference that was to be held in Brisbane on 22- 25 May 2022. Postponing the conference is regrettable but given the uncertain situation is a necessary decision.
THETA 23 will take place in Brisbane from 16 – 19 April 2023.
The networking and sharing of information enabled by the conference is an important part of THETA. However, it is not practical to host a vibrant and well-attended conference in Brisbane next year, given the current environment.
For those that have already registered for the conference, the conference organisers will be in contact to arrange refunds.
On behalf of the Organising Committee, I extend my sincere thanks to all the committee members that have graciously given their time to support and develop the THETA conference. The Committees have put in significant time over an extended period. While it is disappointing that this activity cannot be rewarded with a successful conference until 2023, I am sure that our members are grateful for their efforts, nonetheless.
I thank members for their understanding and trust that people will participate in the virtual sessions in May 2022 and register for the THETA conference in April 2023.
