The University of Canterbury’s Library and Digital Services have transformed their library services by implementing FOLIO, an open-source library management system. Delivered within a tight five-month schedule, the project demonstrates a commitment to modernizing UC’s library resources, facilitating seamless access for students, staff, and the broader community.
This presentation will cover the challenges and solutions involved in replacing the 28-year-old system, including data migration, integrating FOLIO with UC’s new Data Integration Hub, and streamlining library workflows to support both digital and physical resources. The implementation was a collaborative success, enhancing UC’s capacity to support the academic and research community with accessible, human-centered, and efficient library services.
Through our journey, we showcase how a unified vision and dedicated teamwork drive operational excellence and lay a foundation for ongoing digital innovation in library services. Join us as we discuss the strategies, challenges, and best practices that have turned FOLIO into a core asset of UC’s digital ecosystem.
