Jill Benn is an accomplished higher education leader based in Perth, Western Australia. Jill is proudly connected to her Noongar Ballardong heritage.
In 2024, Jill embraced a new career direction, bringing a wealth of leadership skills and experience to explore strategic change across the University of Western Australia, as the Director, University Transformation and Improvement. Prior to her current role, Jill held several influential roles within the Library sector, including a decade as the University Librarian at The University of Western Australia (UWA), as Chair of the Council of Australian University Librarians (2019-2023), and as Board Director, International Association of University Libraries (IATUL) (2017-2022). Jill is passionate about higher education cultures, leadership and collaborating across boundaries to create transformational change. She was appointed to the Faculty of the Council of Australasian Information Technology Directors (CAUDIT) Leadership Institute in 2018, and has been its Director since 2022. Jill’s commitment to the university sector is recognised by the award of Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and she is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
