Richard Northam is a board member of the Australian Access Federation (AAF), the National eResearch Collaboration Tools and Resources (AAF) Project, the Research Data Services (RDS) Project and works part time as the Director, National Engagements for the Australian National Data Service (ANDS). Richard has played a co-ordinating role across NeCTAR, RDS and ANDS as part of developing a strategy to bring together these projects into a single project. Previously Richard was the Director of the RDS project, served as a Director on the board of EDUCAUSE, is the former CEO of CAUDIT and is a former IT Director at the Australian Defence Force Academy. Richard lives and works in Canberra, Australia.
Under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) the Australian Government established 27 projects and capabilities in support of the Australian research system.
