Sue Roberts

Director Libraries and Learning Services at the University of Auckland


Sue Roberts is a strategic leader and manager, working in the higher education sector, with a passion for education and learning, libraries and digital developments.

She was previously CEO and State Librarian of Australia’s oldest and busiest State Library – the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne. Prior to moving to Melbourne in April 2012, Sue worked in strategic library leadership and management roles in the tertiary sector in the UK and New Zealand for 15 years. She has focused her career on the transformation of library and information services to meet the changing landscape, and on the engagement of stakeholders and partners to establish and achieve shared goals.

Sue has also undertaken a range of professional leadership roles beyond her organisation, at local, national and international levels. She is drawn to new challenges and stimulated by change and future possibilities.

Sue is currently the Director of Libraries and Learning Services at the University of Auckland.
